Setting up Work Type Posting Groups

Work Type Posting Groups allow you to map work type entities to general ledger accounts in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.  For this work, you need to ensure that the work type posting group code in Chase matches the Income Type Dimension Code in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

• Create a Work Type Posting Group 
• Link Work Types to a work type posting group 
• Setup Dimensions, General Product Group, and General Posting Groups in Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Step-by-step guide

Create a Work Type Posting Group 

1. Navigate to Settings and click on Worktype Posting Groups in the Configuration tree.
   
   
   
   
   
2. The Worktype Posting Groups screen is displayed. Click the + Add New button. 
   
   
   
   
3. A line is added to the grid. Enter the following details:
   
   
   • Posting Group Description - enter a short description of the work type posting group.
   • Posting Group Code – enter a posting group code that will correspond to the Income Type Dimension Code in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
   • Select if this is an Internal and/or External work type posting group.
   • Recognition Type - optionally select the type of revenue recognition this uses, such as Fee, Achievement, or Closure.  
     
     
4. Save changes made to the screen. 
   
   

Link Work Types to a work type posting group

1. Navigate to Settings and click on Worktypes in the Configuration tree.
   
   
   
   
2. The Work Types screen is displayed. Ensure that the correct Group Name is selected. 
   
   
3. Select the work type that you want to link and click the Posting Group drop down. Select the work type posting group to which you want to link to the selected work type.
   
   
4. Save changes made to the screen. 
   
   
   
   

Setup Dimensions, General Product Group, and General Posting Groups in Microsoft Dynamics NAV

1. Log into Microsoft Dynamics NAV and search for Dimensions. 
   
   
2. Click on the Income Type Dimension and open the Dimension values. Add the new Income Type. 
   
   
   
   
3. Search for Gen Product Posting Group and add the new posting group that will be linked to the new Income Type created in step 2 above. 
   
   
   
   
4. In the General Posting setup, filter for General Business Posting Group = "TRADE" and set up the accounts which will be affected by this posting group.
