Once a workflow is initiated, the workflow recipient will receive a notification to approve or decline the document. When the approver goes on to approve or decline the workflow, the user who captured the document will receive a notification under the Completed tab of the Home page.

Approve a document in a workflow


  1. To approve a document workflow, navigate to your Home page.

  2. On the To Do tab, select the item to work on. 

    In this example, Brief 60 was selected.



  3. Click anywhere on the expanded section to open the Brief.



    The Brief screen appears. 

  4. Click the Action Required button on the Toolbar.



    The Approve / Decline Request dialog appears. 

  5. You can either approve or decline the workflow.

    In this example, Approve was selected.



    The document will be approved and the status of the document will change from Awaiting Approval to the target status. 


    Approving an automatic workflow: The target status is the status that a user selects which triggers the workflow. In this example, an automatic workflow was triggered when the status on the document was changed to Final.

    Approving a manual workflow: If you are approving a manual workflow the document status will move from Awaiting Approval back to Draft. The user will receive a notification under the Completed tab of their Chase Home page informing them that the document workflow was approved.






Decline a document in a workflow


  1. To decline a document workflow, navigate to your Home page.

  2. On the To Do tab, select the item to work on. 

    In this example, Amendment 38 was selected.



  3. Click anywhere on the expanded section to open the Amendment.



    The Amendment screen appears. 

  4. Click the Action Required button on the Toolbar.



    The Approve / Decline Request dialog appears. 

  5. You can either approve or decline the workflow. In this example, we are going to Decline the document. 

    In the Notes field enter comments/reasons for declining

    Notes are mandatory when declining a workflow.


  6. In this example, Decline was selected.



    The document will be declined and the status of the document will change from Awaiting Approval to Declined.
